In "The Burglar Who Dropped In On Elvis," Bernie finds himself caught in a tangled web of secrets, unexpected encounters, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come face-to-face with the legendary Elvis Presley.

When Bernie receives a mysterious invitation to Graceland, Elvis's iconic mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, he can't resist the allure of the unknown. Disguised as a maintenance worker, he infiltrates the sprawling estate, eager to uncover the secrets hidden within its walls.

As Bernie delves deeper into his investigation, he encounters a cast of eccentric characters, each with their own motives and secrets. There's Priscilla Presley, Elvis's enigmatic ex-wife; Jerry Schilling, the singer's loyal confidant; and Red West, his enigmatic bodyguard.

Amidst the intrigue, Bernie's path intertwines with that of Elvis himself. The aging rock 'n' roll icon, haunted by the weight of his fame and the shadows of his past, seeks solace in the company of this unlikely confidant.

As Bernie's admiration for Elvis grows, so does his determination to unravel the mysteries surrounding the singer's life. He uncovers hidden affairs, long-lost love letters, and the dark secrets that have haunted the Presley family for generations.

In a thrilling climax, Bernie confronts Elvis with the truth, exposing a web of deceit and betrayal. The once-unshakeable icon is forced to confront his own mortality and the choices that have shaped his extraordinary life.

"Bernie Rhodenbarr, at your service," I said. "I'm here to fix the plumbing."

The woman eyed me suspiciously. "We don't have any plumbing problems."

"Oh, I'm sure you do," I said, flashing her my most charming smile. "You just don't know it yet."

She hesitated for a moment, then stepped aside. "Very well. Go ahead."

I walked into the house, my senses on high alert. The place was opulent, with plush carpets, gold-plated fixtures, and a grand piano in the corner. It was the kind of place where you expected to see Elvis himself lounging on a velvet sofa.

I made my way to the kitchen, where I found a sink full of dirty dishes. I turned on the water and pretended to inspect the pipes.

"Excuse me, sir," a voice said behind me.

I turned around to see a tall, slender man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He was wearing a white jumpsuit and a gold chain around his neck.

"Elvis Presley," I said, my jaw dropping in disbelief.

He smiled. "The one and only."
