About the Author: Leon Uris

Leon Uris was an American author known for his historical novels, many of which dealt with the experiences of Jewish people during wartime. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1924, Uris served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. After the war, he worked as a journalist before turning to writing fiction.

Uris's first novel, Battle Cry, was published in 1953 and became a bestseller. The novel, which drew on Uris's own experiences during World War II, was adapted into a successful film in 1955. Uris went on to write a number of other popular historical novels, including Exodus (1958),QB VII (1970),and Trinity (1976).

Uris's novels have been translated into more than 25 languages and have sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. He is considered one of the most successful and influential authors of historical fiction of the 20th century.
