Early Life and Education

Frantz Fanon was born on July 20, 1925, in Fort-de-France, Martinique, a French overseas department. The National Liberation Front (FLN) and the Algerian Revolution

In 1954, the Algerian War of Independence broke out, and Fanon joined the National Liberation Front (FLN),the leading force in the Algerian resistance. He played a crucial role as a political theorist and spokesperson for the FLN, writing influential tracts that analyzed the dynamics of colonialism and advocated for its overthrow.

The Wretched of the Earth: An Indictment of Colonialism

In 1961, Fanon published his magnum opus, The Wretched of the Earth, a scathing indictment of colonialism and an exhortation to revolution. The book argued that colonialism not only oppressed and exploited its victims materially but also dehumanized them psychologically.
