I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading Drunk In Recovery, but it wasn't this. This is a hilarious, heartwarming, and honest memoir about one woman's journey through sobriety and self-discovery. Author Nicole Addison doesn't shy away from the messy details of her addiction, but she also doesn't dwell on them. Instead, she focuses on the funny, absurd, and ultimately life-changing experiences she had along the way.
Addison is a gifted storyteller, and her writing is full of wit and candor. She had me laughing out loud one minute and crying the next. But more than anything, her story is inspiring. It's a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for recovery.
If you're struggling with addiction, or if you know someone who is, I highly recommend reading Drunk In Recovery. It's a funny, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book:
- "Sobriety is not about giving up drinking. It's about finding a new way to live."
- "The only way to get through recovery is one day at a time."
- "Don't be afraid to ask for help. There are people who care about you and want to see you succeed."
